In one of the most anticipated shows of each and every season, Miuccia Prada, who is widely regarded as a trailblazer in the fashion industry, showed her Spring/Summer 2017 collection in Milan today, complete with retro trenchcoats, feathered cuffs and brightly colored patterns hinting at the 1960s and 70s. Short black and red hot pants were also something of a throwback, along with check long-sleeve tops and coats, while wraparound and pleated skirts, long and short, were completed with colorful feathers that were also used on the cuffs of dresses and blouses. Footwear was decidedly more practical. Apart from a few chunky heels, models strode the catwalk in flat sandals or kitten heels.
The house has been fighting significant woes in terms of revenue growth for several years now, only recently seeing signs of a potential turnaround on the heels of announcing plans to introduce wider selection of lower-priced replica handbags and double its online business. The Milan-based company will also close stores and narrow the spread on prices of new products between regions to about 10 percent.
